  • Overview

    The Account Supervisor (AS), reporting to account senior management (Account Director and/or Managing Director) will be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate programs and tactics for assigned clients. The Account Supervisor will serve as the client contact for tactical logistics, brand positioning, and market landscape.


    Primary functions include being the brand champion, overseeing daily brand logistics, supervising junior staff, and leading the integrated team to ensure high quality standards that meet or exceed client expectations. 


    Strategic thinking

    • Maintains an excellent knowledge of client business objectives and tactical plans
    • Demonstrates working knowledge of therapeutic/clinical information of the brand
    • Ensures compliance with FDA guidelines, PhRMA, OIG, and ACCME guidelines as applicable
    • Assists senior account management in the development of tactical innovations that support client business plans and budgets
    • Participates in the analysis/development of market and competitive research findings, providing actionable recommendations to senior account and client management
    • Clearly understands client’s competitive environment and challenges
    • Works with agency departments to ensure projects remain on strategy
    • Assists senior account management in identifying emerging trends, capitalizing on them to promote client business/brand differentiation


    Creative oversight

    • Supervises the day-to-day collaboration among account, copy, and art departments
    • Advocates and supports Beacon’s creative concepts to the client
    • Provides clear communication as liaison between client and internal team as related to creative concepts
    • Develops and ensures that creative concepts support strategy
    • Works with art and copy counterparts to maintain agency creative standards


    Best practices

    • Manages quality control of client materials and identifies quality assurance protocols as needed
    • Supports senior account management in delivering initiatives that meet or exceed client expectations
    • Attends industry events periodically representing and promoting Beacon positively within the industry
    • Challenges client and agency peers to develop strong, actionable recommendations that stretch current thinking and the status quo
    • Identifies client and team resources to optimize client marketing expenses and agency procedures

    Leadership/organization management

    • Develops strategic and tactical plans. Ensures account team is successfully executing.
    • Provides project direction, timing, and budgets to internal team
    • Leads job opening meetings and development of project briefs
    • Communicates the client’s needs and provides appropriate direction to internal team
    • Manages weekly status meetings and follows up with weekly status reports to clients
    • Ensures status reporting process is active, consistent, and running efficiently
    • Knows when to manage problems independently (while keeping the Account Director informed on all activities)
    • Works with internal teams to ensure client initiatives are  implemented with strategic insight, high level of service, delivered on time and within budget allocations
    • Stays informed on status of projects prioritizing for the team when needed
    • Attends and actively participates in all required meetings, demonstrating punctuality, collaboration, strong listening skills, and innovative thinking
    • Participate in the development of annual plans and tactics as appropriate
    • Ensure OPDP, Zen, and all client Medical/Legal/Regulatory submission processes are correct



    Talent management

    • Supervises the account team and individual members
    • Identifies and proposes development plans for account team members
    • Identifies and assists in resolving personnel/department plans for account team members, collaborating with HR
    • Provides appropriate staffing recommendations tied to enhancing account service support and profitability and participates in the hiring process
    • Anticipates resources needed (internal and external) and seeks senior managers’ support to ensure availability of resources


    Client relations

    • Manages appropriate client expectations of agency deliverables
    • When appropriate, acts as liaison with agency/client vendors on behalf of our clients
    • Serves as an interface between client and agency operations to foster and strengthen client relationship
    • Ensures client deliverables are on target and meet deadlines
    • Maintains an open and regular dialog with client peers to review projects, expenses and exchange ideas
    • Assists senior account management in identifying and resolving client issues


    Financial responsibilities

    • Reviews and/or creates estimates and revised estimates when appropriate on assigned projects
    • Works with finance to review pre-billing, reconciliation, and final monthly client billing
    • Assists in management of account profitability, monitoring hours/OOPs against ongoing projects
    • Understands client forecast/budget issues
    • Ability to work with clients on monthly expense forecasts


    Business development

    • Identifies any potential organic business opportunities as they arise through research of professional journal, trade, and marketing publications
    • Networks with client team to identify incremental business opportunities
    • Participates in business development opportunities when appropriate

    Education and experience

    • 4-year college degree required.
    • 5+ years of experience in an ad agency required
    • Healthcare industry experience a plus
    • Master’s a plus
    • Direct supervisory experience required
